”Sometimes you just need to take the cotton out of your ears and stick it in your mouth...and just listen.” Aunt Mabel
Dear Aunt Mabel,
Every Friday night my husband insists on having a date night, which usually includes dinner and a late movie. I’m so exhausted Saturday, and that's my laundry day! I can barely stay on my feet to finish the folding! So, what should I do?
Sincerely, Tired in Sylva
Dear Tired,
Do your laundry on Wednesday.
Dear Aunt Mabel,
My wife of sixty years is a great cook, and I love the meals she prepares! Not only are they healthy, but they are delicious! We live in a tourist town where there are lots of restaurants, but also lots of people. Here's the problem. My wife loves to eat out at the restaurants...but I love to stay home and enjoy her home cooked meals. Sometimes we fuss about it. What should I do?
Signed, Frank
Dear Frank,
Wow, you are a lucky man! Your wife must love you very much!
I think you will discover your own answer to your question when you see that the two of you actually want the very same thing!
Scrumptious food... prepared for especially for you! Sitting down to enjoy that mouthwatering meal & relaxing afterward...with no further effort. I'll just bet that's the reason your wife enjoys going out to eat.Think about how wonderful it feels to see that plate of deliciousness set before you...you dig right in! Now for dessert! Perhaps a nap afterward.
It's all about compromise and taking care of each other. Treat her to a nice dinner out...from the way you describe her, it sound's like she's earned it.
In a quandary? A sudden state of perplexity? Perhaps you just have a stubborn gravy stain... ask Aunt Mabel. She'll know what to do! Submit your own question to Aunt Mabel's Advice Column
DUST IN CASE YOU NEED TO KNOW...
Here's a simple way to do a messy job. To clean the blades of a ceiling fan, slide a pillow case over the blade of the fan and pull it back. All the dust will fall into the bottom of the pillow case. Take it outside and shake it out when you’re done.
LET THE LEMON DO ALL THE WORK
Pour boiling water over lemons in a microwave-safe bowl, and cook in the microwave for five minutes. The steam will loosen any particles in the microwave so you can easily wipe it down; plus the lemons make it smell great.
ADD VINEGAR TO YOUR LAUNDRY
Add a half a cup of white vinegar to every load of laundry to eliminate odors. Vinegar will also soften scratchy towels by removing soap build-up.
Double Duty Dryer Sheet
Use old dryer sheets to wipe down baseboards. Since they are anti-static they will stay dust free longer.
Furniture Polish in the Bathroom
Use lemon pledge on bathroom mirrors to make them smell great and shine too! Use it on a chrome faucet and it will gleam & resist future water spots.
Pearly White Grout
Use toothpaste and an old discarded toothbrush to brighten up the grout lines between tiles.
Crayon Eraser
Have toddlers? Use WD-40 to remove crayon marks from LCD screens.
Freshen Up a Leather Sofa
Use a good quality wax shoe polish to remove scratches and scuffs from leather couches.
No More Drippy Toilet Brush!
After cleaning your toilet place the brush across the rim of the toilet, let down the seat to hold it there. You can finish cleaning the rest of the bathroom while the toilet brush drips dry back into the toilet instead of the toilet brush holder – yuck!
